Plot of the series The Master and Margarita (2005 series):

The series takes place in the mid-30s of the last century in the USSR.

In the evening, in the park on Patriarch's Ponds, the young writer Ivan Bezdomny met with the chairman of MASSOLIT, Mikhail Aleksandrovich Berlioz, who instructed him on his new poem. In it, Bezdomny was to convey to the people in a popular literary form that God does not exist.

Suddenly, a strange citizen with a foreign accent intervened in the conversation of the two writers. He introduced himself as the professor of black magic, Woland, who had arrived in Moscow to conduct consultations.

This strange gentleman was very critical of the convictions of Bezdomny and Berlioz. And when asked about proof of God's existence, he replied that he was personally present in the palace of Pontius Pilate when he interrogated Jesus Christ.

In addition, the strange stranger prophesies to Berlioz that he will die that evening, and not at the hands of the enemies of the people, but at the hands of a Komsomol member. He will simply slip and fall under a tram, which will cut off his head. Now the writers looked critically at Woland, considering him crazy.

But after a few minutes, the scenario written by Woland comes true with mathematical precision, and the amazed Homeless tries to detain the foreigner. But he disappeared just as unnoticed as he had appeared. Homeless tries to tell everyone he knows about the strange consultant who was possessed by an evil spirit, but naturally no one believes him.

Not only that, the unfortunate poet is sent to a madhouse, where he meets his colleague, a writer. This writer tells Ivan that the night before he had the honor of talking to Satan himself, and that it is no accident that he ended up in a madhouse.

The writer turned out to be Ivan Bezdomny's brother in misfortune and also ended up in a mental hospital because of Pontius Pilate. He wrote a novel about Pontius Pilate, but no publisher wanted to publish it.

The only person who read this novel and appreciated it was his secret love, Margarita, who nicknamed this creation the Master.

Since then, the writer renounced his name and called himself only by the name Margarita had given him. Without finishing his novel, the Master, feeling that he would soon be arrested, burns the manuscript and advises Margarita to forget about him and his novel.

He summoned the Master to him so that he could finally finish his novel, at the end of which he would meet the one whom he had innocently sent to a terrible death almost two thousand years ago. After all, only by meeting him could he find eternal peace...
