Plot:
Action of the film We, the undersigned takes place at the turn of the 70-80s of the last century in the Soviet Union. The honest and decent chief dispatcher of the SMU (construction and assembly department) "Selkhozstroy" Leonid Prokhorovich Shindin tries to save the head of the SMU Egorov, who is being removed from his position.
Egorov has a conflict with the head of the trust, his immediate superior Gryzhylyuk, the former head of this SMU. Before Egorov's arrival, SMU occupied leading positions in regional socialist competitions, the red banner never left the walls of the department, and its superior Gryzhylyuk received a well-deserved promotion.
Having taken over SMU, the honest leader and talented builder Egorov saw that his predecessor Gryzhylyuk was only engaged in window dressing and show-off, while the real state of affairs in the management was deplorable. Gryzhylyuk was afraid that the principled Egorov would start digging under him and decided to get rid of Egorov. Then the opportunity came up: Egorov had to hand over the constructed facility - the bread factory.
The regional commission for acceptance of the bakery found many minor deficiencies and did not sign the acceptance certificate. Leonid realized that after this, Yegorov would be removed from his post without being given the opportunity to say anything in defense. And Yegorov was a proud man, not to wave his fists after the battle. Having learned which train the commission members would be returning home on, Shindin took a ticket for the same train and carriage in order to persuade them to sign the certificates on the way.

In the same compartment with him is the head of the production department Malisov, who was allegedly sent by Yegorov to help Shindin "process" the commission members. In fact, Leonid himself gave the order to Malisov through Yegorov's secretary. Leonid suspected that Malisov was working for Gryzhylyuk and decided to check him out, since it was Malisov who was tasked with accompanying the commission members to the facility.
Malisov takes Alla, Leonid's wife, who worked under him, with him on a business trip. Alla was supposed to try to keep her husband from insisting on signing the act. Before that, Malisov had ideologically processed Alla.
He said that her idiot husband Lenya was groveling before Yegorov, and that he hadn't even given him a new apartment. But the appearance of his wife was very opportune. Leonid provoked a conflict with the conductor, which was witnessed by the members of the commission, and then, having met them, he invited Alla Ivanovna, supposedly his colleague, to a birthday party.
Since the members of the commission knew Malisov by sight, Leonil sent him to the next car so that he could wait there until they reached the necessary condition. But only the youngest member of the commission, Semenov, reached the condition, and he began to brazenly pester Alla.
Unable to bear it, Alla confesses that she is Leonid's wife and the "birthday" operation fails miserably. Realizing that the plan to "process" the commission with cognac did not work, Leonid asks the chairman of the commission, Yuri Devyatov, to listen to him and tells about the conflict between Yegorov and Gryzhylyuk, and why it is so beneficial for the latter that the acts are not signed.
Now Devyatov begins to doubt the correctness of his decision, because earlier, due to his excessive principledness, he was not sent to accept the objects that Gryzhylyuk handed over...
