Plot:

The action of the film "From the Bug to the Vistula" takes place in 1944. After the legendary partisan commander Sidor Kovpak is wounded, command of the partisan unit is taken over by his permanent chief of staff Pyotr Petrovich Vershigora.

Now the Kovpakivtsi are given the task of carrying out a raid deep into the enemy's rear, similar to the one they carried out in 1943 in the Carpathians. The detachment will have to go ahead of the advancing forces of the 1st Ukrainian Front, collect information about the enemy, carry out sabotage in its deep rear, tie down significant enemy forces, distracting them from more important tasks at the front.

In general, Vershigora's detachment should become the largest sabotage and reconnaissance group of the 1st Ukrainian Front, operating deep in the enemy rear. The Kovpakites successfully completed the task and soon reached the Soviet-Polish border, which they had not received orders to cross from the command.

But the detachment commander had the right to act at his own discretion, according to the developing situation, and the situation for the detachment was not favorable. The Germans withdrew significant reserves from the front and cut off the partisans from a possible retreat to the North or East. Therefore, the only way for the partisans was now to the West, to Poland.

Here the partisans had to face new difficulties. It was necessary to win over the local population, which had been hostile to the Red Army during the German occupation, to establish contacts with local underground fighters and resistance forces, and to establish contacts with the mainland to obtain weapons and ammunition.

Meanwhile, the detachment was being replenished with more and more new people, among whom the Germans were actively sending their agents to the partisans. But, despite this, the detachment commander Vershigora did not close the doors of the detachment to all those who wanted to fight the enemy, but at the same time ordered his scouts to intensify their work to expose enemy agents...
