The film takes place in the spring of 1943 in Nazi-occupied Ukraine. In the summer of 1943, a battle will take place near Kursk, which will decide the outcome of the war. The Germans are actively transferring manpower and military equipment to the direction of the main attack.

In this situation, the headquarters orders all partisan detachments and units to redeploy deep into the enemy's rear. To the right-bank Ukraine and settle near major railway junctions: Shepetovka, Kovel, Korosten, Sarny.

The partisans must simultaneously begin active subversive activities in all areas to destroy German military trains, disable railway communications and structures. After all, a train with dozens of tanks can be blown up by several partisans, and on the battlefield these tanks themselves are a formidable force...

Одно из крупнейших партизанских соединений под командованием генерал-майора Алексея Федорова, насчитывающее, более четырех тысяч человек, успешно передислоцировались в указанный район, и обосновался в лесах под Ковелем, крупнейшим железнодорожным узлом на западной Украине…
