Narrative:

The action of the movie "The Last Step" unfolds in the period from the late 20's to 1945. The protagonist of the movie is an orphanage pupil Stepan Astashenok goes to work at the factory. Even in the streetcar, fate brings Stepan together with Katya and Timofey, who soon become his closest people: Katya is his wife and Timofey is his best friend.

With the outbreak of war, Stepan and Timofei leave together for the front, while Katya and her two children remain in German-occupied territory. Stepan knew nothing about the fate of his wife and children for a long time and lived only in the hope that he would find them after the war.

However, it was not destined to come true, and already in the battles for Germany Stepan learns that Katya and the children died in a German concentration camp. Stepan himself continues to fight and dies just one step before victory. Next to him until the last minute of his life faithful friend and battle comrade Timofey...
