Narrative:
The action of the movie "Obelisk" unfolds in 1939 in Western Belorussia. Not so long ago this land was part of Poland and most of its inhabitants did not fit into the new Soviet reality, so local activists had to work hard to re-educate the local population.
Oles Moroz, a young rural school teacher, was one of these activists. He believed that children were the future, so school education should begin with ideological education, which was often to the detriment of the school program.
Moroz was not only a teacher to the children, but also a friend, an older brother and even a father. The young teacher was harshly criticized by the district education department for his palsy with schoolchildren and violations of the school curriculum, but he nevertheless did not give up his teaching method.
With the outbreak of war and Nazi occupation, Moroz stayed in the village and continued to work at the school, for which he was again criticized by the local underground. But Moroz did not collaborate with the Germans, he simply continued to teach the children, because otherwise they would have fallen under the influence of the Germans.
With the help of a homemade receiver, Moroz regularly received reports from the Sovinformbureau, read them to the children and even passed them on to the local partisan detachment. In this way, by making his own contribution to the fight against fascism, Moroz protected the children from more active and radical actions against the occupants.

However, three boys did not listen to the teacher and sabotaged the local policeman. As a result, the supports of the wooden bridge were undermined and the car with the hated Polizei fell into the river, only instead of the Polizei, a German died, and for killing a German, the locals were to die immediately.
When the three boys who had organized the assassination attempt were arrested, Moroz and the other children went into the woods to join the partisans, but soon a messenger came from the village with a message from the Germans: the Germans promised to release the children if Moroz returned to the village. Moroz knew that if he returned to the village, he would die a certain death, but for the sake of the children he was always ready to sacrifice himself...
