The plot of the film Duma about Kovpak. Carpathians, Carpathians…:

The film takes place in 1943. After the defeat at Stalingrad, Hitler wants to take revenge and prepares a major offensive in the Kursk region. In this regard, Kovpak's partisan unit is ordered to make a deep raid on the enemy rear and reach the Carpathians, where large German oil fields and oil storage facilities are concentrated.

The destruction of these strategic objects would have had a serious impact on the offensive power of the Wehrmacht. Therefore, their protection and defense became a priority for the top leadership of the Third Reich.

The SS chief Himmler himself arrives to coordinate the operation to destroy Kovpak's partisans. He is ready to provide large forces to the commander of the SS troops and police in the East, General Kruger. Including: mountain rifle and tank divisions, aviation.

But even this was not enough for Kruger. He understood that the success of Kovpak's elusiveness was in his support from the local population. Therefore, Kruger decided to carry out large-scale provocations to discredit the partisans before the Kovpakites arrived in the Carpathians.

For this purpose, he uses nationalists from the OUN, who, under the guise of partisans, begin to terrorize the local population.

Arriving in the Carpathians, Kovpak understands that war in the mountains is significantly different from the war in the forests to which they are accustomed. And therefore, he and his staff have to change tactics and strategy at will...
