The plot of the film Duma about Kovpak. Alarm:

The film is set in the first months of the Great Patriotic War. The Chairman of the Supreme Command Headquarters, Comrade Stalin, addresses the Soviet people and calls on them to wage a total and merciless fight against the fascist occupiers, both at the front and in the rear.

To fight in the rear, the Headquarters calls on Soviet citizens to destroy all material assets that cannot be evacuated from the territory captured by the enemy. And most importantly, to create and join partisan detachments and underground organizations.

So, before the enemy arrived on the territory of the Sumy region, the chairman of the Putivl city executive committee, Sidor Artemovich Kovpak, by order of the Sumy regional party committee, went with twelve patriots to the Spadshchansky forest, where he organized the backbone of a partisan detachment.

Soon Kovpak's detachment is reinforced by Red Army soldiers emerging from encirclement, and joins with another partisan detachment of Semyon Rudnev, chairman of the Putivl Osoaviakhim. Thus Sidor Kovpak becomes the commander of the united partisan detachment. And Semyon Rudnev becomes its permanent commissar.

Now it was already a formidable force, which had a ramified underground network in the major cities of the Sumy region and inflicted significant damage on the enemy. Therefore, despite the fact that in November 1941 the Germans had a rather tough time near Moscow, the Wehrmacht command decided to allocate a large unit, reinforced with tanks, from the front to fight the partisans.

Kovpak's detachment had no experience fighting army units yet, since in the rear they had to deal mainly with punitive forces and policemen. That's why Kovpak and his staff are carefully planning the future operation. After all, this will be their first real battle with the enemy, a real baptism of fire...
