Plot:

After unsuccessful attempts to storm Leningrad, Hitler decides to take the city by means of a long siege, blocking all exit and entry routes into the city. Thus began the siege of Leningrad, which lasted from September 8, 1941 to January 27, 1944. For almost 900 days, Leningrad was practically cut off from the mainland. Due to the lack of food, a terrible famine broke out in the city, taking the lives of hundreds of thousands of peaceful Leningraders.

However, according to eyewitnesses of those terrible days, they never felt freer than during the blockade, because it was hard to imagine that in that terrible situation people could be treated any differently. The city leaders of that time also felt freer, as they could make decisions according to the current situation, and not according to instructions from Moscow, for which they would have to pay dearly later.

But he had to pay for something else, because Stalin was panicky afraid of even the slightest manifestation of freedom and independence, so soon after the fireworks in honor of the Victory died down, Stalin took up the fate of the leaders of besieged Leningrad.

While they were all being transferred to Moscow, for promotion, but then everything happened according to the established scheme before the war: arrest, torture and execution or long terms of imprisonment in camps. The first secretary of the Leningrad regional and city party committees, Andrei Zhdanov, died in 1948 from a long-term heart disease in the central sanatorium of the Central Committee of the All-Union Communist Party (Bolsheviks), but as it turned out, Zhdanov, who had suffered a heart attack, was blamed for long-term physical exertion…
