Narrative:

The action of the movie "Strictly Male Life" takes place in the late 70s of the last century. Lieutenant Colonel Ilya Klenov, who very well-proven himself in the exercise "Dvina", is appointed commander of the of the Guards Tank Regiment to General Buryh's division.

Major General Burykh was already preparing to retire, and the command of the military district was looking for a replacement for the division commander. Colonel Lev Mamykin, who served at the military district headquarters, was considered the most promising candidate for the position.

Mamykin was the same age as Klenov, studied with him at the academy and maintained friendly relations with the commander. But unlike Klenov, who had gone through all the stages of service in the troops and in command positions, Mamykin preferred to serve in a large headquarters, shuffling his heels in front of the high command.

Despite the fact that Mamykin was friendly with Klenov, the new district commander sends him to inspect the Burykh division, where the main attention Mamykin had to pay to Klenov's regiment.

According to the plan of this inspection, Klenov's regiment was raised on alarm and made a march, during which it carried out the various introductions given by Mamykin and the officers who came with him on the inspection.

Thus, in the course of one assignment, a young platoon commander, Lieutenant Sorokin, drowned a tank. Mamykin hastened to draw the attention of the District Commander to this episode, summarizing that it was not an accident, but the result of a systemic deficiency of the regiment commander Klenov.

But Klenow became a mountain for his platoon, who showed determination, courage and military ingenuity. In general, Klenow believed that the exercise should be held in conditions as close to combat as possible, otherwise it was not an exercise, but a masquerade.

And when, at the final stage of the exercise, a rocky height appeared in the path of the tanks, Klenow did not stop the regiment, as the division commander demanded, but decided to take the height. After that, the new District Commander had no doubt that it was Klenov - a young, brave, determined and intelligent commander should become a division commander, and staff Colonel Mamykin will have to take Klenov's regiment for the time being....
