Plot of the film Officers (1971 film):
The film takes place in the 1920s. After completing the command courses, former Moscow worker Alexei Trofimov is sent to Turkestan for further service.
Here, at the final stage of the Civil War, there was a struggle with the ardent enemies of the proletarian revolution - the Basmachi. Service in Turkestan brings Trofimov together with another commander, platoon commander Ivan Varavva. As is known, army friendship is the strongest and Alexey and Ivan will carry it through their entire difficult life.
Soon after the liquidation of the Basmachi, Trofimov and Varavva will receive new appointments to higher positions in different parts of the vast country. Khalkhin Gol, Spain and finally the Great Patriotic War. In all these battles, friends commanders on the front lines.

After the war, both were senior officers. Trofimov was a major general and the permanent commander of the Guards Tank Division. And Varavva was a colonel general, commanding one of the directorates in the Ministry of Defense.
Having received such a high post, Ivan did not forget his old comrade-in-arms. Having summoned Alexey to Moscow, Varavva offers Alexey a teaching job at one of the military academies in the capital. Knowing that Alexey and his wife Lyuba were native Muscovites, Ivan believed that his friends would readily agree.
But Alexey was forced to refuse. This division, which he commanded for many years, became his home. After all, his son Yegor, who died heroically in the war, served in this division…
