Narrative:

The action of the film "The Shadow of the Enemy" takes place in 1943. The commander of a reconnaissance group, Senior Lieutenant Ivan Rostenkov, prepares his group for the next mission, but before it is completed, he is unexpectedly called to the battalion commander.

The urgency was explained by the fact that while carrying out a mission behind enemy lines, Polyakov’s group of scouts, who were supposed to obtain particularly important documents about the German counteroffensive, died.

The scouts managed to capture secret documents related to this operation, but during their retreat the group was discovered and eliminated.

The only thing that Polyakov's scouts managed to do was to report the coordinates of the hiding place in which they hid the documents obtained during the mission.
