The plot of the movie Eternal Calling (movie 1973):
The movie takes place in Russia from 1906 to 1960 and tells about the fate of the Saveliev brothers. The story begins in 1906 in the Siberian village of Mikhailovka, Shantarsky uyezd, Novonikolayevskaya province.
Anton, the eldest son of Silanty Savelyev, is forced to leave his father's house and go to the city to live with his uncle because of a conflict with the local landowner Kaftanov. Working at the depot, Anton gets acquainted with Marxists and becomes an active member of the Bolshevik underground. By 1917 at a young age Anton is a professional revolutionary with a long record of underground work. Neither hard labor nor exile could break his struggle for the cause of world revolution.
At that time his middle brother Fyodor and the younger Ivan were working for Kaftanov. Fyodor saw what a promiscuous and reckless lifestyle Kaftanov led. And he wanted to please his master as much as he could, so that one day he would bring him into the "people".

Fyodor was ready to marry Anna, Kaftanov's daughter, for that. But Kaftanov saw that Fyodor was not a mere lackey. And that sooner or later he would grow out of him a great scoundrel, so he was in no hurry to bring him nearer to himself.
Ivan was also in love with Anna. And because of this reckless love he was ready to serve her father, despite the fact that Anna chose Fyodor. The revolution that took place in 1917, and then the civil war divided the brothers. Ivan remained loyal to Kaftanov, and Fyodor joined the partisan detachment of Polikarp Kruzhilin. But it was not the idea that drew Fyodor to the Bolsheviks. It was the expectation that having destroyed Kaftanov, he would take his place.
However, after the revolution came the universal equality so long awaited by most of Fyodor's fellow villagers, except for him. Nevertheless, Fyodor was forced to marry Anna and take a job on a collective farm.
Ivan receives a five-year sentence for his "services" to Soviet power. After serving from call to call, Ivan is released and soon meets his future wife Agatha. He realizes that he can not return home to Mikhailovka. After all, they will remember him there for a long time. Ivan works in the town for several years, but in the early 30s the eternal call of his native home makes him decide to return.

His native village met Ivan even more friendly than he had expected. He had served with the Whites in the war, but he had committed no serious crimes. Only Fyodor was not happy about his brother's return. And soon, thanks to the tricks of his middle brother, Ivan again finds himself in prison, from which he is released on the eve of the war.
The war was now to finally judge the brothers and reconcile them, writing off all their sins. But in this war Ivan Saveliev fights heroically. While Fyodor, having fallen into captivity becomes a Polizei. Fate brings them together again, and Ivan was forced to kill his own brother, saving him and the whole family from the shame with which he stigmatized himself. Anton also dies in the war, and he performs his feat far from the front, in the rear, saving a shell factory from an explosion.
So Ivan remains one of the brothers, and after the war he returns to his native Mikhailovka, where he continues the great work of his older brother Anton. He is now ready to give his life for the power and the people who managed to forgive him and give him a new life....
