Plot of the film The collapse of engineer Garin:
The film takes place in the late 1920s. A talented engineer, Pyotr Petrovich Garin (Oleg Borisov), develops a unique device that can transmit a heat beam over a distance without dispersing it, but concentrating it in one point, burning through everything in its path.
But being an adventurer by nature, Garin does not advertise his invention. And does not plan to use it for good purposes.
On the contrary, with the help of his apparatus, Garin is eager to achieve immense power over the world, and power can only be taken with the help of gold. Which Garin, with the help of his apparatus, can easily draw from the most inaccessible depths of the earth.
But since it was practically impossible to implement his plans in Soviet Russia, Garin fled to the West, having first staged his death.
In France, he contacts a certain Rolling, an industrialist from the United States, and lays out his plan. Garin asks Rolling to finance a geological concession in South America, where huge gold reserves are concentrated. In addition, Garin needs money to build a new, much more powerful device than his current prototype.

Since Rolling was by nature the same adventurer as Garin, he agreed to this venture. Besides, his affairs had been in the worst possible condition lately. Rolling's chemical business in Europe was on its last legs, and soon, in connection with the opening of a new aniline company in Germany, it was threatened with bankruptcy.
Meanwhile, in Russia they found out, что найденный на даче Гарина труп, вовсе не его, а сам хозяин дачи сбежал на Запад.
