Narrative:

The action of the series "Black Cat" takes place in 1951. Desanguinated by a long war, the country faced a new threat - banditry. Taking advantage of the fact that the bodies still lacked experienced operational personnel, criminals believed in their impunity and day by day acted more daring and cruel.

В Москве орудует банда «Черная кошка», отличавшаяся  особой жестокостью и наводившая ужас на жителей столицы. Грабежи, разбойные нападения, убийства, и после каждого успешно проведенного дела преступники оставляли на месте преступления свою «визитку» — черную кошку.

But the young MUR officer Captain Viktor Karatov, unlike his colleagues, thought otherwise. Before the war, Victor Karatov, who had worked in Leningrad as a lawyer, went through the entire war, served in the intelligence service, and after the war fought banditry in Western Ukraine.

Being a new man in criminal investigation, Karatov believed that most likely the gang "Black Cat" has no connection with the traditional criminal world and its members are not hardened criminals-recidivists, but quite good citizens who had no previous problems with the law.

The development of this version leads Victor to Krasnogorsk, near Moscow, where he worked as a threat supervisor a few years ago. It was here that members of the "Black Cat" gang lived, who worked at the plant during the day and were not only front-line workers, but also Komsomol activists and athletes - members of the factory soccer team. Victor realizes that to prove his version, suspicions alone are not enough. The bandits had to be taken only red-handed, so several operative officers are sent to Krasnogorsk to monitor the suspects.

But suddenly, when the gang was almost in a tight ring, Karatov's superiors give the command to remove surveillance from Krasnogorsk, and Victor himself was arrested by the state security authorities. Karatov was charged with sabotage, arguing that he was trying to lead the investigation down a false trail and to favor the real criminals, while casting suspicion on some of the most worthy citizens - Soviet workers....
