Plot:

The film takes place in the USSR, on the eve of the Moscow Summer Olympics. The film's protagonist, Stanislav Tikhonov, is an investigator for especially important cases at the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department.

Tikhonov was known as the best detective in MUR, and was a favorite of his boss, General Vladimir Sharapov. Tikhonov was always completely immersed in his work, he lived for his work and did not even notice how his daughter grew up. But his wife Anastasia noticed this, she was tired of living alone with her husband alive.

The fashion designer, a successful woman who moved in the highest circles of Soviet bohemia, could easily find herself an equally successful husband. And soon it happened: Anastasia tells Tikhonov that she is leaving him for a famous director.

Investigator Tikhonov is having a hard time dealing with his wife's departure and throws himself into his work, which has always saved him from depression. And soon a young trainee appears in Tikhonov's department - Lieutenant Elena Lavrova, the daughter of his boss General Sharapov.

Tikhonov, like a boy, falls in love with this essentially girl, who was barely older than his own daughter. But having broken the young girl's heart, Tikhonov decides to return to the family for the sake of his daughter, especially since Nastya left her director and was ready to forgive her husband.

However, Tikhonov soon realizes that this was a rash step: he was very attracted to Elena, and one day, having gathered his courage, Tikhonov leaves forever...
