The plot of the movie Profession of an Investigator (movie 1982):

A certain Nikolai Gubanov was detained at the railway station. A vigilant police officer noticed that Gubanov was taking things out of a storage box, where another citizen had put things a few minutes earlier.

On searching the belongings, it turned out that one of the suitcases contained a large sum of money in a banker's pack.

Taking this into account, the case involves the investigator for especially important cases of the investigative department of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs, police colonel Boris Antonov.

At first glance, the intelligent and modest man of retirement age did not fit in in any way with the image of a shady businessman. However, Antonov's profession as an investigator, in which he had worked for more than a year, made him distrust first impressions.

One thing Antonov knew for sure: some people involved Gubanov in their dirty deeds. And the fact that Gubanov categorically refused to admit who gave him the money and why, testified that the criminal was a person close to Gubanov.

Then Antonov decided to study the biography of Gubanov. At the train station he was not in vain. According to the legend Gubanov was going to Svetogorsk to his friend, with whom he met at sea. However, it turned out that Gubanov had met this friend three years ago, and he had been to Svetogorsk before.

The fact is that before retirement Gubanov worked at the combine, whose branch was located in Svetogorsk, and he regularly went there on business trips. For the investigator it became obvious that the money found in the storage room is connected with Svetogorsk combine. Therefore, Antonov ordered an immediate audit of the enterprise.

At this time Gubanov dies. A few years ago he had suffered a severe heart attack and therefore his death surprised no one. However, Antonov found that in the evening he was visited by a man. And the examination showed that before his death Gubanov was injected with a heart drug in an inadmissibly large dosage....
