The small northern town of Nardin was shaken by a brutal murder. Near the highway leading to the airport, a local resident found a bag with the remains of a human body.
Given the high public resonance and complexity of the case, senior investigator of the criminal investigation department of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs, Colonel Vladislav Kostenko, is involved in its investigation.
In the shortest possible time, together with local operatives, operational investigative measures were carried out, which made it possible to identify the victim of the crime.
It turned out to be the previously convicted Mikhail Gonchakov, who was passing through from the gold mines. According to witness testimony, the last person to see Gonchakov alive was the taxi driver who took him to the airport that fateful night.
Soon the detectives established the name of the taxi driver. It turned out to be Grigoriy Milinko, who had quit his job several months ago and left the city in an unknown direction.
Then the detectives began to look into Milinko's biography, and here they were in for a surprise. It turned out that Grigory Milinko had gone missing in the spring of 1945 near the German city of Breslau. And the traitor Nikolai Krotov had been hiding under his name all this time.
