Plot of the series Money (TV series 2016):

The series takes place in 1969. Young scientist Alexei Barannikov receives his first patent certificate and the “Inventor of the USSR” badge for creating an electronic photocopier.

However, Barannikov did not have long to rejoice at his success, because someone managed to reproduce anti-Soviet literature with the help of his apparatus, therefore, Alexei was not only stripped of all his merits, but also exiled from Moscow to Stavropol, where he was forced to work as a simple driver.

But even here, in his free time, Barannikov is absorbed in his favorite business and sends his new inventions to the patent office time after time, but each time the answer is negative. Then Barannikov decides to prove his genius in another way.

In the garage, he sets up his own printing yard and begins printing money in twenty-five ruble notes. The money was of such high quality that even Gosznak was forced to admit that it was better than the original and it was practically impossible to notice a fake with the naked eye. Therefore, soon all savings banks were equipped with devices with ultraviolet radiation.

Meanwhile, Barannikov's counterfeit money was rapidly spreading throughout the USSR, and the best personnel of not only the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but also the KGB were sent to search for the counterfeiters. The detectives had to check many versions: from CIA sabotage to the largest gang of counterfeiters in history.

It would never have occurred to anyone that high-quality counterfeit money was being manufactured by a modest, intelligent man, who, during the investigation, was even assigned as a driver to the senior investigator of the Main Directorate of the USSR Ministry of Internal Affairs...
