Plot of the series Spider (TV series 2015):

The action of the series "Spider" takes place in 1967. In the capital, in one of the city parks, near the monument to Lenin, the corpse of a girl was found, wrapped in red silk material. As the examination showed, the silk was made in the capital's fashion house, and the murdered girl herself was an employee of this institution.

Everything pointed to the fact that this was a ritual murder committed by some kind of maniac-sectarian in order to sow panic on the eve of a big holiday in the USSR – the fiftieth anniversary of the Great October Socialist Revolution.

And as if to confirm this version, an even more resonant crime takes place in Moscow – the robbery of Gosznak, the central bank of the USSR. The criminals manage to steal almost one and a half million rubles, an unheard-of sum of money at that time! Both the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the KGB understood that even hardened criminals could not dare to commit such a robbery, which means that this is the work of enemy special services.

All this, together with the ritual murder of the girl, fits very well with the version of a special operation by American intelligence services to disrupt the Great Jubilee. But the head of the MUR department, Major Ivan Cherkasov, was not rushing to conclusions, and, putting aside political emotions, was engaged in the investigation.

But in times of intense rivalry between the KGB and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, this was an unaffordable luxury. The leadership of both security agencies demanded quick results from their employees in order to record a victory as their asset and receive praise from the party and government. Major Cherkasov, who has solved many other high-profile crimes, has to work in this difficult political environment…
