The series takes place in our time. A serial killer is operating in a large regional center of Russia. His victims are young beautiful girls, whose bodies are found on a country highway.

The operatives' suspicion falls on a psychology teacher at a local university, Sergei Vitalyevich Shultz, who worked for a long time in Africa, studying the psychology of local cannibal tribes.

Having decided to catch the maniac with live bait, the detectives from the homicide department persuade Lera Zhukova, who was a student at the university where Zhukov taught, to take part in the operation. But unexpectedly, the operation did not go according to plan: the girl fell in love with Zhukov...
