The film takes place in a kingdom ruled by a young and overly flighty and capricious queen. One day, on New Year's Eve, the queen had another whim: she suddenly wanted snowdrops in the middle of winter.

And no matter how much the court professor tried to convince her that snowdrops bloom only in April, the queen did not want to listen to scientific facts, and therefore, she threatened to cut off the professor’s head if he continued to stand in the way of the implementation of her completely unreasonable whims.

For this reason, a royal decree was issued that whoever delivered a basket of snowdrops to the queen for the New Year would be honored with her favor and would receive a basket of gold as a reward.

Soon this decree reached the ears of an evil stepmother and her daughter, who became very interested in this business proposal.

But since they themselves were very lazy and did not want to go into the forest on a frosty winter night, they decided to send their stepdaughter to get flowers.

The girl had no choice but to fulfill the will of her evil stepmother and go into the forest in search of snowdrops.

Wandering through the forest, she notices a fireplace around which twelve men of different ages are sitting. These were the twelve months of the year, who, having learned why the girl ended up in the forest, decide to help her. To do this, old December gives up its place in the calendar for a while to young April, the month in which snowdrops bloomed.

When the basket was filled with flowers, the girl returned home and gave it to her stepmother, who in turn hurried with it to the queen, hoping to receive a reward. However, the queen did not think of rewarding anyone, she only demanded that the stepmother and her daughter show the place in the forest where they found the snowdrops.

The stepmother had no choice but to give away her stepdaughter, and now the girl is under mortal threat. The queen threatens to cut off her head if she does not show the place in the forest where she picked the snowdrops...
