The plot of the movie Circle (movie 1972):

The movie takes place in the 70s of the last century. After a fire in the warehouse of "Chempharmzavod", the police found a shortage of 40 kilograms of opium, and the bags where the opium was stored were ordinary chalk.

Alexander Alyoshin, an OBKhSS officer who arrived on the scene, rightly assumed that the criminals had deliberately set fire to the warehouse in order to destroy the traces, but the firefighters who arrived in time managed to quickly extinguish the fire.

Rostislav Sergeyevich Frolov, head of the transportation section, who, according to a security officer, was the last person to leave the plant, came under suspicion. The strange thing was that Frolov left the plant in the motorboat of the commercial director Viktor Vasiltsev, in which the detectives found traces of stolen opium.

Alyoshin's senior comrade, Major Shondysh, believed that now the circle was closed, because a few years ago Frolov had already been on trial for embezzlement, though only as a witness.

He was saved from the criminal case by Captain Alyoshin, who believed that Frolov was not involved in the crime and vouched for it. On the basis of the fact that Alyoshin now cannot conduct an impartial investigation, Shondysh demands that he be removed from the case.

But Alyoshin did not change his attitude to Frolov, and still did not believe in his guilt. True, the captain noticed that Frolov had been worried about something lately, but he refused to talk to the detective. Nevertheless, Alyoshin did not give up hope to talk to Frolov, because it was the only chance to save him and to find the real criminals ...
