The action of the film "The Squadron Goes West" takes place during the Civil War in Odessa. The Volunteer Army of General Denikin, the Petliurites, the Entente troops, the French squadron standing at anchor - all this power was gathered in Odessa to move on Moscow and Petrograd and strangle the proletarian revolution.
The Bolshevik underground organization operating in the city was small in number and had no opportunity to provide armed resistance to the interventionist troops and the White Guards, and in addition there was no connection with Moscow with which it would be possible to coordinate its actions.
But Moscow did not forget about Odessa, because it was here that the fate of the revolution was decided, and therefore, it sent the French revolutionary Jeanne Labourbe to Odessa.
With the help of local underground fighters, Jeanne creates an organization that carries out revolutionary work among French sailors and soldiers. However, soon, with the help of a provocateur planted in the underground, the organization is exposed, and all its members are sentenced to death.
However, the organization’s activities were not in vain, and a month and a half after the heroic death of its members, a mutiny began in the French fleet…
