The plot of the movie Package (movie 1965):
The action of the movie takes place during the Civil War. A small detachment of Red Army soldiers of Budyonny's army under the command of Commissar Zavarukhin found itself in a dense ring of White Guards of General Mamontov's army.
To escape from the encirclement, the squad urgently needs help, and Zavarukhin decides to send a messenger with a secret package to the legendary commander.
The commissar personally selects a young Red Army soldier Pyotr Trofimov for the role of courier. Before being sent to the enemy rear, Trofimov receives an order. If he is caught by the Whites, he must destroy the package at all costs.
The ring of encirclement proved to be really tight and soon after his departure Trofimov falls into the hands of the Whites.
Whatever, the package did not fall to the enemy, Trofimov was forced to eat it hastily, nevertheless, Mamontovtsy still threatened to shoot Trofimov on suspicion of association with the Bolsheviks.

But Trofimov is not afraid to die for the cause of the revolution; what saddens him most is that he did not follow the orders of his squad leader. However, one of the Mamontovs, Vasily Zykov, who sympathized with the Bolsheviks, helps Trofimov to escape.
In order to camouflage Trofimov under Belyak, Zykov put on him the epaulettes of a warrant officer and it helped the fugitives to pass through the White Guard cordons.
But when they met their own, the White Guard epaulettes almost served a fatal purpose. So passing another enemy cordon Trofimov and Zykov came upon a detachment of Red Army soldiers, whom they at first mistook for the Whites.
While trying to escape, Zykov is severely wounded in the back, and Trofimov is captured alive. He was shot again, only now by his own men. Unlike the enemy, Trofimov was not treated with ceremony for long and decided to shoot him right in the courtyard of the hut where the headquarters was located.
Before accepting death, Trofimov asks the soldiers who were ordered to shoot him to accept his boots.
But having taken off his boots Trofimov discovers a piece of paper stuck in his shoe, which had torn off from the bag he had eaten.
This piece of secret paper and saved the life of a young Red Army fighter Peter Trofimov and his best friend Vasily Zykov ...
