Narrative:

The action of the movie "Bread Gold Nagan" takes place in 1921 in Russia. Tormented by a bloody civil war, the country lay in ruins, because of the severe shortage of food famine broke out. The Soviet authorities organized the work of special prodotryads, which were to seize excess bread from the kulaks and send it to the needs of the hungry.

In addition, the People's Commissariat of Finance collected gold and other valuables, which were then exchanged for bread in the West, because the young Soviet republic had no other convertible currency.

Olga Sokolova, an educator of a Moscow orphanage, receives grain from a prodotryad to be delivered to Moscow for her pupils. To help her, the commander of the prodotryad gives Olga a young sailor Alexander Andronov, who is to accompany Olga to the Gorodok railway station.

At the same time, a group of Cheka officers was given the task by their superiors to deliver to Moscow three bars of gold confiscated from local rich people. Their route also lay through the Gorodok station, from where they were to travel by train to Moscow.

However, an unexpected attack by the Belykhs foiled these plans. In the battle, all the Chekists accompanying the gold are killed, and the head of the group before his death manages to give the gold to the station chief Stepan Zaitsev.

In addition to Zaitsev, Olga Sokolova, sailor Andronov and Chekist Vladimir Gorbach remain alive. Now they all have to sneak to Moscow by roundabout ways, where they could meet both fierce ideological enemies and robbers from the big road, who did not spare neither Reds, nor Whites, nor anarchists, nor monarchists....
