The plot of the movie Investigation (movie 1985):

The action of the movie takes place in the early 80s of the last century. In Moscow there is a daring robbery of a department store, from the safe of which the criminals stole jewelry worth more than three hundred thousand rubles.

In the course of their investigation, detectives MUR found that a certain Vorobyev, a thief and recidivist nicknamed "Gorely," had quit the department store several months earlier. Although Vorobiev was currently serving his sentence, the detectives felt that Vorobiev was not only involved in the store robbery, but was also its main organizer.

And soon Vorobyev escaped from prison, and the detectives had no doubts that Vorobyev would come for his share. The operatives found out Vorobyev's circle of acquaintances and established that he worked with a certain thief Nepeyvoda, but this time the detectives were too late.

Someone had been on Nepeyvoda's trail earlier and killed him, taking the suitcase with jewelry. The operatives had little doubt that this someone was Vorobiev, and soon they found a witness who had seen Vorobiev leaving Nepeyvoda's house with the locksmith's metal suitcase.

As a result of operative-search activities detectives manage to get on the trail of Vorobyov and detain him, except that in his suitcase was not gold, but ordinary metal bolts.

From Vorobyov's reaction, MUR investigator Colonel Ermilov realized that he himself was quite surprised by the contents of the suitcase, and most importantly, that he had not killed his accomplice Nepeyvoda.

The investigation from the very beginning went in the wrong direction, and Ermilov now decided to change the direction of the search. Such a well-planned crime by a scumbag criminal Vorobyov failed only thanks to chance or a dilettante, who had a good reputation, had no criminal record, and most importantly was free of all suspicions....
