Действие фильма «Ларец Марии Медичи» происходит в конце 70-х годов прошлого века в Ленинграде. Сыщики уголовного розыска занимаются расследованием таинственного исчезновения французского гражданина — антиквара Винсента Савиньи. Одновременно с этим в милицию поступает заявление от Веры Чарской о том, что у нее из квартиры похищен старинный ларец.

From the photo of Savigny presented to the victim, she recognized him as the mysterious messenger.

But the detectives did not believe in mysticism, especially since in the room missing Savigny they found a check from the commission antique store on the purchase of the chest, and when the operatives questioned the seller, he was forced to admit that he wrote a fictitious check. It is likely that Savigny needed this check to present at customs in order to take the chest out of the country without hindrance.
