Narrative:

The action of the film "Ships storm the bastions" takes place at the end of the 18th, beginning of the 19th century. After the Great French Revolution, the star of the young general Napoleon Bonaparte rose, who decided to lead and carry out a liberation campaign in Europe. But instead of freedom, Bonaparte brought enslavement and bondage to the peoples of Europe.

Russia could not remain on the sidelines of the war unleashed by Napoleon, and in this war it was forced to unite with its old enemies: Turkey and England. Having received calls for help from the leaders of the European powers, the Russian Tsar Paul I decides to send the Black Sea Fleet to help them.

Despite the denunciations and slanders of envious people, Vice-Admiral Ushakov was appointed commander of a combined squadron of Russian and Turkish ships and soon he managed to land on the Ionian Islands belonging to Greece. However, on the islands there was a well-fortified fortress of Corfu, held by the French.

Corfu was rightly considered impregnable, and Napoleon was almost certain that Ushakov would not be able to take it, and therefore the Ionian Islands, which were an important strategic hub in the Mediterranean. But Ushakov again applied his unconventional approach to the matter. Having lined up the ships along the coast, he ordered a massive artillery barrage on the fortress from naval guns, and then launched a landing force.

Ships storm the bastions. Military science had never seen anything like this before, and that is why the blow was unexpected and devastating, under which the impregnable Corfu fell. This was Ushakov's first resounding victory in the war against Napoleon. There would be more victories, but when Ushakov returned to his homeland, few of the top Russian leaders would remember this.

Snitchers and envious people bombard the new Tsar Alexander I with denunciations, and under the influence of these denunciations he sends the famous admiral into retirement. But those officers and sailors who served with Ushakov did not forget him, for them he forever remained their commander and the famous admiral...
