Narrative:

Действие фильма «Застава в горах» происходит в начале 50-х годов. Старший лейтенант Сергей Лунин, пройдя в Москве курсы переподготовки, направляется для дальнейшего прохождения службы на горную заставу в Средней Азии. По прибытии на заставу Лунин сразу же приступает к руководству подразделением, ввиду болезни своего начальника капитана Прохорова.

Before leaving for the medical unit, Prokhorov briefly introduces Lunin to the situation on the border: the captain pays special attention to a group of recently arrived foreign archaeologists working in the mountains on the other side of the border.

Meanwhile, American intelligence officers, working under the guise of those same archaeologists, are preparing to send two seasoned saboteurs into the USSR.
