Narrative:

Действие фильма «Тихая застава» происходит в начале 90-х годов в Таджикистане. После the collapse of the Soviet Union civil war broke out in this country bordering Afghanistan. Tajikistan's border with Afghanistan is still guarded by the Moscow border detachment of the Russian Border Troops.

As part of the detachment, the "Quiet Outpost", nicknamed by border guards for the fact that the area here was relatively quiet and not tank-prone like other areas. The head of the outpost, Captain Pankov, who took over the outpost six months ago, had established good relations with the local population of the neighboring village and was respected by the residents.

But the captain felt that the calm at the outpost was only temporary; the outfit repeatedly detected mujahideen observers watching the outpost in the mountains, and one night the signal mines installed in front of the outpost went off, and the border guards found an unexploded landmine nearby.

In addition, the outpost was reinforced with an APC and a group of scouts under the command of Senior Lieutenant Bobrovsky was sent from the detachment to help Pankov. Pankov was not very happy about the arrival of the legendary Bobrovsky. All the mujahideen of Afghanistan were after Bobrovsky, and they were ready to pay a million dollars for his head.

There were rumors that Bobrovsky's wife had been kidnapped two years ago by the famous mujahid Dzur, and now the senior lieutenant's soul had lost peace. Pankov receives an order to make a "corridor" on the border for Bobrovsky's group. Meanwhile, in the kishlak appears a certain Faizulo, who wants to marry the local teacher Yula, the granddaughter of the former teacher Faizulo Nina Nikolaevna.

But Yulia is forced to refuse the hot dzhigit, because her heart belonged to Pankov, besides there were rumors in the village about Faizulo's ties with the Mujahideen. And Yulia's parents: her father, a Russian officer, and her Tajik mother were slaughtered by bandits in Dushanbe. Having been rejected, the hot Tajik boy Faizulo returns to Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Bobrovsky and his group cross the border and carry out an operation to eliminate Dzur. Returning to the outpost, Bobrovsky brings disturbing news. Taking Pankova aside, he informs her of a large group of mujahideen who are about to cross the border at the outpost to overthrow the secular government in Dushanbe and establish a Sharia state.

Pankov immediately reports to the detachment and prepares the outpost for withdrawal. When darkness fell, the border guards quietly left the outpost and took up defensive positions. At dawn the mujahideen opened a barrage of mortar fire on the outpost, but when they burst into the shelled outpost, they did not find a single dead border guard.

Faizulo, who has now taken the place of the late Dzur, orders his men to immediately set off in pursuit. At this time Pankov, accompanied by Bobrovsky, evacuates the locals from the kishlak, and he and a group of border guards go to meet the mujahideen who rushed in pursuit to cover the retreat....
