Plot of the series The Trump Place (Season 1):

The series takes place in our time in Kyiv. Police captain Sergei Koval serves as a criminal investigation officer in a district department of one of the city's residential areas. Due to his job, he often has to risk his life, without thinking about gratitude from his superiors or, even more so, from the victims themselves. The honest and principled operative loved his job, did not chase high positions and did not suspect that everything could be different.

But one day Koval single-handedly neutralized an entire gang that had kidnapped the daughter of a major Kyiv businessman, Goldansky. For saving his daughter, Goldansky wanted to generously thank the brave officer, but he modestly refused, and then the businessman went another way.

Using his connections at the police headquarters, Goldansky initiates Koval's transfer to the position of criminal investigation operative at the central police department. A trump card, as the police called this district department behind its back. Elite stores, night clubs and restaurants attracted criminals not only from all over the capital, which meant there was plenty of work for the police.

But it was not the work and salary that attracted the central department, but the opportunities for "left-wing" earnings, which were provided by the enormous powers of police officers. By turning a blind eye to violations and outright crime in "sponsored" commercial structures, one could ensure a comfortable future for oneself.

From the first days of service in the central department, Koval realized that with his reputation as an honest cop, no one was waiting for him here. However, he was not going to compromise his principles, because he did not ask to be here himself.

At this time, a series of contract killings of businessmen are committed in the city by a hired killer nicknamed "The Architect". The "Architect" case was under control at the very top, and therefore his capture promised career growth for whoever had a hand in it.

The head of the criminal investigation department of the central department, Lieutenant Colonel Tregubov, had long dreamed of taking the place of the head of the entire department, and the "Architect" case could contribute to this. Koval was a thorn in Tregubov's side, but the lieutenant colonel could not help but note his excellent operational ingenuity. With his help, Tregubov hoped to catch the "Architect", take all the laurels for the victory for himself, and get rid of the hated Koval...
