Narrative:
This story began in the mid-60s, when the Soviet government decided to build a new passenger car plant on the Volga River.
20 years later, the city Togliatti became a major industrial center of the USSR, giving the country up to 50% of all passenger cars. Until the mid-1980s, Togliatti, with more than half a million residents, was a fairly quiet and crime-free city.
The largest automobile plant in the country, which provided decent wages to the townspeople, was the guarantee of this calm and stability. However, with the beginning of perestroika, and especially with the introduction of market forms of economic management, the situation in the city began to change.
The most profitable criminal business in the late 80s was playing "thimbles", which was run by thieves and gangsters. However, this business could not exist for long, and the police began to clamp down on the thieves.

The bandits who remained unemployed for a while tried on another criminal and more profitable business - racketeering. The blossoming of small business became a fertile ground for racketeering, since its very existence was not yet enshrined in law.
The auto-industrial giant itself was so far beyond the reach of the bandits, who were content with covering stolen parts and ensuring the "safety" of car buyers from other regions.
But in the early 90's, the very leaders of Auto VAZ, without wanting to, opened the door to bandits at the plant.
Using not quite legal schemes to sell cars at a discounted price through various intermediary firms, the managers of the enterprise bypassed the state. Illegal financial schemes quickly attracted the attention of gangsters, who immediately began offering their services to "cover" illegal transactions.
However, if before the major criminal groups of Togliatti coexisted peacefully, the struggle for control over the country's largest enterprise has turned into a real criminal war. It would last almost a whole decade, claiming the lives of more than five hundred people.
Many criminal authorities will die, and the survivors will become quite respectable and respected businessmen ...
