Plot of the film Blizzard (1964 film):
The war of 1812 ended and the regiments returned from abroad. They marched victoriously through the streets of cities, making women's hearts beat faster. And at balls, men in military uniforms were in much greater demand than men dressed in fashionable tailcoats.
But at least one woman was completely indifferent to this event. Marya Gavrilovna R., the only daughter of a wealthy landowner who died several years ago. Having inherited her father's entire fortune after his death, Marya Gavrilovna was one of the most eligible brides in the provincial town of N.
However, there was no lucky man on the horizon who could melt the heart of the proud beauty. But then one day a lodger appears in her house: a young, black-moustached handsome hussar Colonel Barmin.
This acquaintance brings Marya back to the events of three years ago. Then she was a young girl, brought up on French romance novels, and fell in love with a poor ensign Vladimir. But since her father never encouraged their relationship, the young couple decided to get married secretly. And then simply present their parents with a fait accompli.
However, a strong snowstorm that hit the earth that day interfered with their plans. Vladimir got lost and was very late for the wedding, and Marya Gavrilovna was mistakenly married to another officer.
After that, Vladimir disappeared from Marya's life forever. Only later did she learn that he had gone to war, where he soon died. The girl took this loss very hard and did not make any acquaintances with men for several years. However, with the appearance of Barmin, everything changed. She fell in love with him and felt that the colonel was also clearly not indifferent to her. But why did he take so long to explain his feelings?
And then one day Barmin decided to do it. As it turned out, he was the same officer she had been mistakenly married to…
