Narrative:
Valentin Konstantinovich (Valiko) Mezandari, nicknamed Mimino (Sokol in Georgian), a former pilot of large civil aviation now flies a small transport helicopter in his hometown Telavi.
One day at the airfield, Valiko met Valera, a fellow student at the Voronezh aviation school who worked on international airlines. Valera introduced Valiko to his charming flight attendant Larisa Ivanovna Komarova, who greatly impressed the Georgian falcon's heart. After this meeting, Mimino decides to return to big aviation.
After arriving in Moscow, Valiko, using his "family" connections, gets a job in the best hotel in Moscow "Russia", where an international symposium of endocrinologists was taking place. In the hotel he meets Rubik Khachikyan, a truck driver from Armenia.
The first thing Mimino decides to do is to call his acquaintance Larisa Ivanovna and invite her to a restaurant. Valiko ordered a fancy dinner, but Larisa Ivanovna did not show up. Rubik saw a bored neighbor in the room and sat down at his table. The friends, who had a sumptuous dinner in the best Caucasian traditions, were disappointed in the morning: Professor Khachikyan, an endocrinologist, arrived, and Rubik, who had been mistaken for him, was evicted from the hotel.

Mimino tried to stand up for his friend, but they evicted him from the room when they found out that he was not an endocrinologist either. Now Rubik's car is the lodging for the friends. Valiko again calls his acquaintance Larisa Ivanovna and now, on Rubik's advice, invites her to the theater. But this time Larisa Ivanovna did not come. After waiting in the cold for a long time, Mimino calls Larisa again.
But he gets an answer, in a jokingly coarse form from his younger sister Larisa "rolls sausage on the Malaya Spasskaya. In the morning the friends have to part, Mimino asks Khachikyan to lend him some money, because after the dinner at the restaurant he has no money left at all. Rubik also has no money, but he asks Mimino to borrow a tire, which he advises to sell to someone.
Valiko refuses, because he doesn't know anyone in Moscow. Then Rubik takes a tire and goes to the first house he sees. He notices a Volga with "bald" rubber near the house, and from a passer-by he learns the number of the owner's apartment.

But when Mimino saw the owner of the apartment, he tried to attack him without any explanation. The man managed to hide in the toilet, and his wife called the police. Mimino was arrested. At the trial the victim, Nukzar Papiashvili, an ordinary employee of the wholesale base, asked the judges for a harsh sentence for Mimino and compensation for material damage. Valiko faces up to six years in prison, but he does not try to defend himself and does not give a reason why he attacked the victim.
But the young novice lawyer Svetlana Georgievna established the reason for the defendant's personal dislike of the victim. Several years ago Papiashvili had dishonored the defendant's sister and refused to marry her. The court treated Mimino favorably, and he got off with only a fine.
While the Georgian falcon was under arrest, he turned thirty-six years old, the age after which the law does not allow him to enter the big aviation. Nevertheless, a chance and successful acquaintance at the airport helps to solve this problem and Valiko manages to get not only into the big aviation, but also to fly on prestigious international airlines. But being often abroad, Valiko begins to yearn for his native Telavi more and more, and at one point decides to quit his prestigious job and return to his homeland....
