Plot:

Action of the film For family reasons takes place in the late 70s of the last century, in Russia. A mature woman, Galina Arkadyevna, who lost her husband long ago, lives with her daughter Lida and son-in-law Igor. The ambitious newlyweds, striving to make a career, try to dump all the housework on their mother.

But the ambitious director of the enterprise is not going to give up a prestigious job for the sake of children. In addition, Galina Arkadyevna was constantly dissatisfied with her son-in-law, comparing him with her late husband.

The situation worsened when a child was born into Lida and Igor's family. The tension between the spouses and Galina Arkadyevna grew, and both sides of the conflict frantically tried to find some way out of the current situation.

Through the "Good Services" agency, Igor and Lida try to find a nanny for little Lenochka, but it turns out to be not so easy. Even more difficult was the idea of exchanging an apartment, because in the USSR real estate transactions were prohibited.

Nevertheless, Galina Alexandrovna was lucky to find the underground broker Eduard Bubukin. Bubukin showed her a good option for exchange, but the artist Nikolai, who lived at the indicated address, was not going to change anything. He told Galina Arkadyevna that his mother was probably trying to find him a bride in this way.

Angry at this turn of events, the woman quickly left the apartment of the successful artist, but not quite a successful Don Juan. However, after some time, she accidentally met Nikolai again in a taxi. This chance meeting turned out to be more successful and fateful: Nikolai and Galina Alexandrovna got married.

Marriage had a beneficial effect on Galina Alexandrovna's relationship with her children, but now she found herself in the same situation as her son-in-law Igor. Now Nikolai's elderly mother Izolda Tikhonovna was constantly dissatisfied with her daughter-in-law and constantly grumbled angrily.
