Narrative:

The action of the series "Ostrog. The Case of Fyodor Sechenov" takes place in the early 2000s. The main character of the series, Major Fyodor Sechenov, is appointed chief pre-trial detention facility (SIZO) in one of the provincial cities of Russia. Because of the strange and sometimes mystical stories that happened at different times in the isolation ward, the prisoners and prison staff called it "Ostrog" and even all the sinister processes that took place in the prison were attributed to the spirit of "Ostrog" that lived in one of its cells.

Not only the prisoners, but also the staff of the pretrial detention center were afraid to enter this cell. The only one who entered this "damned" cell was the chief of the operational unit, Major Klykov, and this gave him even more power over all the inhabitants of the prison. But the new chief of the "Ostrog" did not believe in these prison tales, but believed in the facts.

His predecessor, Lieutenant Colonel Bulanov, was killed during a riot, and Sechenov was assigned to investigate the murder. Since the staff and prisoners actively obstructed the investigation, Sechenov rightly concluded that the organizer of the murder was his deputy, Major Klykov, who was mortally feared by all the inhabitants of this gloomy institution. Sechenov did not even doubt this, but it was very difficult to prove the major's guilt, and because Klykov always came out of it dry, Fyodor himself sometimes thought that the head of the operational unit had sold his soul to the devil...
