Plot of the series Katran. Major Cherkasov's new case:

The action of the seriesKatran" takes place in the late 1970s, during the so-called stagnation period. Police Colonel Viktor Potapenko and his young lover Kira Miller, the wife of the famous Moscow gynecologist surgeon Mikhail Miller, are killed at a dacha outside Moscow.

First of all, the investigation puts forward the version that Miller committed the murder out of jealousy, but soon Miller himself becomes a victim of an unknown killer.

Then MUR detectives, led by Major Cherkasov, took up the identity of the victims and found out that a week before the murder, Kira Miller had lost an astronomical sum at cards for those times – 400 thousand rubles.

Further investigation leads Major Cherkasov to a katran – an underground casino, where, according to witness testimony, Kira often visited.

As it turned out, this den, although underground, did not prevent it from operating successfully, because in addition to the workshop workers, card players and other criminals, people's artists, high-ranking officials and even party activists spent their time here.

Cherkasov realized that no one would allow him to develop the katran using ordinary investigative actions, so he decided to introduce his young employee Sonya Timofeeva into it.

In order for the implementation to be as successful as possible, Cherkasov does not involve even his closest colleagues in it, and Sonya is forced to commit an official crime, for which, in case of failure, she will face severe punishment...
