Plot of the film Planet of the Apes (1968 film):
The Ares VI spacecraft, having completed its research mission in the Kepler-186f system, initiated its return to Earth. The onboard chronometer showed 27 months of flight time. However, the crew, consisting of six highly qualified specialists, was well aware of the inevitable consequences of relativistic time dilation.
Calculations, confirmed by data from ground tracking stations, predicted the passage of several centuries on Earth. All relatives, friends, colleagues - had long since passed away. This thought lay like a heavy burden on each member of the crew.
The hope of returning, albeit to a changed world, was still glimmering in their hearts. However, fate decreed otherwise. On the approach to the Solar System, in the Kuiper Belt region, Ares VI collided with a previously unregistered asteroid. The collision was catastrophic. The life support systems were critically damaged. The ship, having lost control, went off course and made an emergency landing on an unknown planet.
The planet where the surviving crew members found themselves was strikingly different from Earth. The atmosphere, although breathable, had an increased concentration of argon and xenon. Gravity was 15% higher than Earth's. The flora and fauna were a chaotic mixture of unfamiliar life forms. But the most terrifying discovery was the presence of intelligent life on the planet.
Deprived of equipment, communications and food supplies, the weakened astronauts encountered the aggressive inhabitants of this world. The creatures, humanoid type, resembled Earth gorillas. Possessing developed muscles and primitive weapons, they showed hostility to the intruders. The surviving members of the Ares VI crew were captured. Their future seemed extremely uncertain. They faced the task of surviving in a completely hostile environment, among creatures whose motives and intentions remained a complete mystery.
