Former front-line soldier Vasily Denisov has headed the regional party committee for several years, but so far he has not had any particular successes. Moreover, he was recently sharply criticized by the old communist and director of the museum Chernoguz.
He accused the regional committee and the first secretary of the regional committee Denisov of having "lost revolutionary passion in their work." They had turned into bureaucrats and resourceful dealers who hid from the real problems of the common man behind their plans and reports.
As an honest and principled man, Denisov understood that there was a great deal of truth in Chernoguz’s words.
But he could not understand why their region could not fulfill the plan for meat and milk. After all, they did everything according to the instructions of the party and the government.
But the neighboring region exceeded the annual plan several times. And the first secretary of the regional committee, Artem Artamonov, was awarded the highest award, "Hero of Socialist Labor."
Artamonov's fame thundered throughout the country, he was held up as an example to other regional leaders. However, Denisov soon revealed the secret of his "heroic" neighbor.
It all started when some enterprising people started actively buying up young cattle and butter from him in the region. It turned out that Artamonov, in order to exceed the meat plan, had slaughtered an entire herd of cattle and most of the dairy herd. And now, in order to somehow stay afloat, he was forced to buy young cattle and butter in neighboring regions…
