Plot of the film Station for Two (1982 film):
The film takes place in the early 80s of the last century, in Russia. Returning from Sheremetyevo Airport to Moscow, the car driven by the wife of pianist Platon Ryabinin hits and kills a man. As it turned out, the man was drunk and violated traffic rules himself, however, Ryabinin's wife faced criminal punishment for manslaughter.
In order to save his wife, Ryabinin takes full responsibility, stating that he was the one driving. Considering that Ryabinin confessed to everything, the court releases him on bail not to leave Moscow. But Ryabinin feels that after the trial he can go to such a remote place for several years, and, violating his bail, he goes to visit his old and sick father for a few days.
At the Zastupinsk station, the train stopped for 20 minutes, and passengers were offered lunch in the station restaurant, where a table was set for them. However, the lunch offered in the restaurant turned out to be very, very mediocre, and according to Ryabinin, one could get an ulcer from just looking at it.
Ryabinin did not eat anything, but the waitress Vera Nefedova insistently demanded payment of a ruble and twenty kopecks from him. The amount was not that great, but Ryabinin stood by his principles, since he had not even touched the food. However, the waitress did not give in and even called the police. While Ryabinin was sorting things out with Vera in the restaurant, his train left, and the situation worsened even more.

From this situation in the restaurant, everything went wrong for Ryabinin, and he lost his passport, which Vera's friend, the conductor Andrey, took from him as collateral. This enterprising conductor asked Platon to look after the suitcases with melons, while Andrey and Vera hurried to retire to his compartment during the train's stop. But the train's stop was shortened, and the conductor, along with Ryabinin's passport, left for a day and a half on a trip.
Ryabinin blames Vera for all his troubles, it was with her that his troubles began. But he knew no one in this city except Vera, so he returns to this ill-fated restaurant again. Vera feels guilty before Ryabinin in the situation with the passport and tries to help him find a place to stay at the Intourist Hotel, while being late for the last bus.
Now they both have to spend the night at the train station, where Ryabinan's wallet with his last money is stolen. But now these troubles bring Platon and Vera even closer together, and by the evening of the next day they are already glad that such an unfortunate incident brought them together. Having spent these two days with Vera, Platno understands that this is exactly the woman he needs: honest, sincere and natural. Such a woman, ready to go to prison herself for him...
