The plot of the film Return of the Resident:

Several years passed. Upon returning to the center, Tulyev was removed from his job in the "Eastern Department" and sent to the analytical department. Here, Tulyev learned about a special operation being prepared under the code name "Map". Which was part of the general plan to prepare military actions against the Warsaw Pact countries.

During this special operation, it was planned to install special devices with chemical and bacteriological weapons near important strategic facilities on the territory of the USSR, intended for sabotage purposes during a special period.

Tulyev reports all this to Moscow. And Moscow in turn asks Tulyev to find the Nazi criminal Hoffman, who is hiding from justice. It was known that this Hoffman recruited mercenaries for foreign legions.

This assignment was just right for Tulyev. He was sent to Africa on assignment from his boss, with the goal of compiling an objective report on the effectiveness of the foreign legion.

Shortly before leaving for Africa, Tulyev learns that a certain Karl Brockman is involved in his father's murder. A professional killer who once worked for Hoffman. Now this scoundrel was in the legion, but soon they planned to send him to the USSR to carry out another dirty job.

Ironically, the Center entrusted Brockman’s training to Tulyev…
