The plot of the movie Resident Error:

Soviet counterintelligence becomes aware that a resident of the intelligence service of one of the countries is to arrive in the USSR NATO with the call sign "Hope."

This resident was professional intelligence officer Mikhail Tuliev, son of Russian white-emigrant Count Alexander Tuliev. Nadezhda had previously worked in the Middle East and Latin America, and had not participated in intelligence operations in Russia.

Knowing Tuliev's border-crossing location and identity, the KGB assigns its employee Pavel Sinitsyn to him. Under the guise of a criminal nicknamed "Snipe" Sinitsyn had to gain Tuliev's trust and find out what his assignment was. And having learned about the task, to make it so that through Tuliev NATO intelligence received false information ...

So Snipe receives his first assignment from Tuliev. He must go to the town of Novotrubinsk and take soil and water samples near it. Here, according to the CIA, there was a secret facility for the production of nuclear weapons. Then these samples Tuliev had to transfer to the center.

Trusting Bexas, Tuliev made an irreparable mistake. The resident's mistake led not only to the flow of false information to the center, but also to the failure of Tuliev himself....
