Narrative:
The action of the movie A labeled atom takes place in the 1960s at the height of the cold war. Stalger, a resident of the secret service of a Western European country, arrives in the Soviet Union.
After the war, the archives of the Gestapo and Abwehr, which fell into the hands of Western intelligence services, turned out to be truly invaluable, because on the territory of the USSR and Eastern Europe there were a great number of war criminals who collaborated with the enemy in the occupied territories and escaped just retribution.
To recruit them, intelligence officers did not need to make great efforts or pay a lot of money, it was enough to remind the target about his "heroic" past, and what would happen to him if the KGB found out about this past.
Most of the war criminals had already forgotten about their exploits during the war, and thought that they had already forgotten about them. Twenty years had passed, and now they were all law-abiding Soviet citizens with families and children.
But no one was going to forget about them, and Stalger, who appeared like a thunderclap, clearly reminded them that no one was forgotten and nothing was forgotten.

But there are exceptions to every rule, and this time, too. One of those whom Stalger had come to remind of his past, a certain Shkalikov, had mysteriously disappeared a few years ago.
For everyone, Shkalikov had drowned in the river, but his wife knew that he had simply hidden himself and regularly received money transfers from him. When Stalger, who was looking for Shkalikov, showed up on their doorstep a few years later, his wife was frightened and turned to the KGB.
The Chekists found that Shkalikov blackmailed his former colleague in the Sonderkommando, Alexei Raskoltsev, now a doctor engaged in private medical practice. The money received from Raskoltsev, Shkalikov sent to his family, and on these transfers detectives managed to get on his trail. But the former policeman could not be found alive, but they managed to establish that one of Raskoltsev's patients is Colonel-General Brunov from the headquarters of the Civil Defense Forces.
The Chekists realized what Stalger's interest was now: to extract useful information from Brunov through Raskoltsev. Now that the meaning of the operation and all the actors are known, the detectives decided not to arrest criminals, but to transmit through them, like a labeled atom, false data, disinformation....
