The plot of the movie The Fate of the Resident:

After Tuliev's arrest, Soviet counterintelligence continued the radio game with the West German intelligence center for which he worked. However, this could not last long, because sooner or later Tuliev's disappearance would be revealed.

And Tuliev, being in prison, had the opportunity to reflect well on his life. He remembered the last words of his father, who was ready to crawl to Russia on his knees, if such an opportunity presented itself. And he had to serve those who fought against Russia. Against the homeland not only of his father, but now the homeland of his wife and son.

In addition, in prison, Tuliev learns that he now has no loved ones outside of Russia. His father died under mysterious circumstances, and many believed it was murder.

Shortly before his death, the old count was about to publish his memoirs and some people really didn't want that.

Thus, Tuliev came to the conclusion that now he had to make amends to his homeland and agreed to work for Soviet intelligence.
