Narrative:

The action of the film "The Drummer's Fate" takes place in the pre-war years. Chief engineer of the defense plant Petr Batashev receives a secret package from engineer Grachkovsky from Kyiv. Intending to hand the package over to the plant director, Batashev writes a report and puts it in his tablet along with the package.

But when he arrived at the plant, Batashev did not find any report in the tablet, and the worst thing was that he did not find the secret package itself. For the loss of secret documents, Batashev was arrested and faced a harsh sentence from the court.

Batashev had no idea that the package had been stolen from the tablet by his young wife Valentina, because Batashev had written a report on the back of a letter that Valentina had written to her lover. Wanting to hide the traces of her secret love affair, Valentina, without thinking, not only committed a crime, but also framed her husband.

Having sent Batashev to prison, Valentina, together with her lover, to whom she wrote letters, goes on vacation to Sochi, and she leaves her stepson and Batashev's son Seryozha alone to look after the apartment.

A trusting pioneer and excellent student, left alone at home, almost becomes a victim of Yurka, the leader of the local punks, who tried to extort money from him and even a seasoned spy hunting for secrets of the defense industry.

But the swindlers fail to fool the Soviet pioneer, because it was not for nothing that Pyotr Batashev was proud of his son, who had recently been appointed senior drummer in the pioneer detachment...
