Film Inspector Losev: Episode 1 "Guest"

The film takes place in the early 80s. The USSR Main Criminal Investigation Department is looking for a criminal who commits thefts from apartments and hotel rooms. The last time the criminal commits the murder of an employee of the Minsk Hotel, who accidentally caught him in someone else's room.

The detectives' only clue was the stolen items, which the criminal tried to sell through his casual acquaintance, Varya Glotova, a shipping agent at a sewing factory.

The detectives put Varya under surveillance, trying to detain the criminal while he was handing over the money from the goods he had earned, and soon he gets in touch. He makes an appointment for Varya to meet near the Prague restaurant, but the girl categorically refuses to meet the criminal.

However, criminal investigation inspector Vitaly Losev manages to convince Varya to go to the meeting with him, passing him off as her brother...

The criminal was detained and gave evidence. It turned out to be the previously convicted Mushansky, but the detectives of the criminal investigation department were now more interested in the hotel guest whom Mushansky tried to rob. After all, he did not even report to the police that a murder had been committed in his room; instead, he hurried to hide.

Nevertheless, the detectives manage to establish his identity without much difficulty. It was a certain Ivan Nikolov from Penza. But when Nikolov was found and interrogated, it turned out that he did not live in the hotel, and his passport was stolen in a restaurant at the station by a certain Mikhail Zurikh, whom he met on the train...
