Narrative:

The action of the movie Hot summer in Kabul takes place in the summer of 1983. In the spring of the same year, Vladimir Dmitrievich Fedorov, a professor of medicine from Leningrad, receives an invitation from the Afghanistan to lecture at the Faculty of Medicine at Kabul University.

Despite the fact that his family discouraged the professor, complaining about the heat and the sudden change of climate, so harmful at his age, Fedorov decides to go to Kabul, because he was asked for help, how could he refuse? To refuse his former students, many of whom were Afghans, and even at a time when there was an undeclared war in their country.

The professor realized that it was the war and not the heat in Afghanistan that frightened his relatives so much, but to Fedorov's surprise, Kabul was quite calm and peaceful, and one could not even believe that there was a war going on very close by. However, the flow of hundreds of wounded in battles, both Afghan military and civilians, quickly sobered up the Soviet professor, who from the first hours of his stay in Kabul got involved in work.

In addition, despite the apparent calm in Kabul, there were frequent terrorist attacks, and any car carrying seemingly peaceful residents could easily be hit by a machine gun or a grenade.

And once Fedorov, accompanied by Afghan doctors, went by helicopter to Kandahar to inspect a military hospital there.
