Действие фильма «Живет такой парень» происходит в советское время, в 60-е годы. В российской глубинке живет разбитной и веселый тридцатилетний парень Павел Егорыч Колокольников по прозвищу «Пашка-пирамидон». Работает Пашка шофером-механиком второго разряда, и мечтает найти женщину своей мечты.

The local collective farm girls were of little interest to Pavel, who was drawn to culture with all his might. And the village girls neither know how to dress nor behave, and there is nothing to talk about with them. One day, while on a business trip to a neighboring collective farm, Pashka meets the girl of his dreams in the evening at a club - librarian Nastya.

But Nastya had many admirers here from local guys, and also a visiting engineer from Moscow, Gena, who was courting her. Turning on all his charm, Pavel tries to take Nastya away from the intelligent Pavel, but this time it didn't work: Nastya is seriously in love with Gena. Realizing this, Pashka backed off and did not interfere with the lovers.

Being in an active life search for the ideal woman, Pashka does not lose heart and, when the opportunity arises, arranges personal lives for his relatives and friends. So one day Pavel introduces a lonely elderly driver Kondrat Stepanovich to his aunt Anisya. And soon the restless merry fellow Kolokolnkov performs a real feat: he drives a burning truck away from an oil depot, saving not only fuel, but also people.

Having been injured in a fall from a car, Pashka ends up in the hospital and even here he is not discouraged, amusing the doctors and his fellow ward members. And when a capital journalist visits Pashka in the ward, his fellow ward members are surprised to learn that the restless joker and merry fellow Pashka Kolokolnikov is a real hero…
