During his time in the army Ivan Brovkin changed a lot. He grew older and stronger. And the sergeant's stripes on his epaulettes testified to the fact that the former unlucky collective farmer had succeeded considerably in the field. And now Ivan was also going to succeed in peaceful, civilian life.

And as soon as Brovkin learned about the government's decision to develop virgin lands, he went to conquer the virgin lands in the first ranks.

The hard labor in the Orenburg steppes was not everyone's cup of tea. Many volunteers gave up after several months of work and returned home. But Ivan Brovkin did not give up.

During the years of service, the disciplined sergeant got used to enduring all the hardships and deprivations associated with it, and new difficulties only hardened him. This could not go unnoticed, and soon the former artilleryman became the head of the tractor brigade.

Ivan Brovkin achieved great results in this position. For what he was presented to an important state award.
